3 Dishes is a modern Taiwanese fast-casual concept serving balanced, vegetable-forward meals inspired by 三菜一湯  (3 Dishes, 1 Soup). We are a pre-launch brand running pop-ups across NYC ahead of our first permanent location, and we are looking for a reliable prep cook to support upcoming events in May 2026.

The Role

This is a temporary, part-time, event-based position. You will work directly alongside the founder to prep, cook, and assemble Taiwanese homestyle dishes in a shared kitchen environment. Depending on the event, we may be selling full lunchboxes or individual sides a la carte. All food is prepared in batch.

Responsibilities

  • Wash, chop, slice, and prep vegetables, proteins, and other ingredients per recipes

  • Measure and portion ingredients for batch cooking and assembly

  • Cook rice, stir-fry vegetables, braise proteins, and prepare cold sides as directed

  • Assemble lunchboxes and/or portion individual sides for a la carte service

  • Maintain a clean, organized workstation and follow all food safety and sanitation standards

  • Assist with setup, breakdown, packing, and transport to event venues

Qualifications

  • Prior prep cook or line cook experience (required)

  • Strong knife skills and comfort with high-volume prep

  • Ability to follow recipes and portioning instructions consistently

  • Reliable, punctual, and able to work independently once given direction

  • Flexible schedule (pop-ups may fall on weekdays, weekends, or evenings)

  • NYC Food Protection Certificate is a plus

  • Experience with Asian cooking techniques or Taiwanese/Chinese cuisine is a plus

Compensation and Details

  • Pay: $19-20/hour with potential for discretionary bonus depending on performance

  • Schedule: Part-time, event-based

    • Must be available 5/8, 5/9, 5/23, and 5/28

    • June-Aug schedule TBC

  • Location: New York City (shared kitchen prep; events at various venues)
